Docker Hub enforces new Rate Limit 🐳

Meet xip.io, the wildcard domain from Basecamp that turns your IP into a test-ready URL. Pair that with Docker’s new rate limits, an AWS meltdown, and some podcast picks, and you’ve got this week’s tech survival kit.”

Docker Hub enforces new Rate Limit 🐳

xip.io- Wildcard DNS Service

A really cool service I discovered last week is xip.io made my the team from Basecamp. What is xip? It’s a free wildcard domain for testing. For example, if your IP address locally is 10.10.10.1, you could add 10.10.10.1.xip.io, which will resolve to your IP address. Great little utility

Docker enforces Rate Limit,s but only 1.5% of usersare impacted

Phew, my cat repo lives on. Docker announced they flipped the switch on rate limiting, and initial reports show only 1.5% of users affected. Carry on, people, keep pushing/pulling as before.

The entire internet is down / AWS East is offline

AWS US-EAST-1 went offline, and it seems like half the internet went offline with it. The outage seemed so bad that it also took the AWS status page offline. Yikes, I'm sending some HUG OPS to the AWS US-EAST-1 team.

I discovered some new podcasts.

I started commuting again, and now I have time to listen to podcasts again. Here's what I'm listening to at the moment.

Startups for the Rest of Us - Great podcast covering all aspects of startups, launching, and finding funding. You don't have to be a startup to find great value in this podcast

Digital Marketing Podcast—I find this podcast super interesting. It discusses all sorts of technology surrounding SEO, SEM, and digital marketing. If you have any content online, it's great.

…That’s this week’s theByte newsletter!
